Cortiment is een lokaal werkend corticosteroïd dat gebruikt wordt als inductie van remissie bij volwassenen met lichte tot matig ernstige actieve colitis ulcerosa als behandeling met 5-ASA onvoldoende resultaat heeft.  ​ Daarnaast wordt Cortiment ingezet als inductie van remissie bij patiënten met actieve microscopische colitis.
